Accounts
Accounts hold your transactions. Every workspace needs at least one, and everything you record — income, spending, bill payments — belongs to one of them.
Account types
Section titled “Account types”Munto supports four account types:
- Checking
- Savings
- Cash
- Credit card
The type is mostly for your own organization — it doesn’t change how the account behaves or how it’s budgeted.
Creating an account
Section titled “Creating an account”Give the account a name, a type, and an opening balance — the amount it holds right now. Munto uses that as the starting point for the account’s balance going forward; you don’t need to backfill every historical transaction to get an accurate balance.
You can add an account during onboarding when you first set up a workspace, or later from Settings → Accounts.
Renaming
Section titled “Renaming”Rename an account from Settings → Accounts at any time. This doesn’t affect its transactions or balance.
Archiving
Section titled “Archiving”Archiving an account hides it from account pickers and lists by default without deleting its history. Toggle Show archived accounts in Settings → Accounts to see archived accounts again, and unarchive one the same way.
Deleting
Section titled “Deleting”Deleting an account is available from Settings → Accounts and asks for confirmation first, since it removes the account along with its transaction history.
No transfers between accounts
Section titled “No transfers between accounts”Munto doesn’t have a transfer feature. To record money moving between two of your accounts, either:
- add it as two separate transactions (money out of one account, money in to the other), or
- edit an existing transaction and change which account it belongs to.
Either approach keeps both accounts’ balances accurate — Munto just doesn’t have a dedicated “transfer” transaction type to link the two entries together.
